The Joys of being a home owner PT. 1

So...my fiance, my dad, and I go to a certain home improvement store last night to purchase blinds to hang in the new house. We have a young looking kid who proceeds to "help" ( and I use this term loosely ) cut and pick out our new blinds. When we get home and start to hang them we notice that they do not look correct! Here are a few good things to know if purchasing blinds:
  1. When you are picking blinds, most of the time you must account for 1/4" off each side so they will fit on the inside of the window. The measurements for width on the box of blinds may not reflect the actual size of the blinds set you are buying. So be sure to ask!
  2. Make sure you check the actual size of the blind set to make sure they have not been cut already. We opened a box that looked brand new only to find that the blinds where 6" off.
  3. Avoid teen looking employees on the floor of a home improvement store.
  4. Keep your receipt

So today when I get off work I have to take the blinds back and try again tonight...sigh....

Back from devLink

Hello All, I am sitting at my desk after attending my first developer conference and decided to listen to some advice that I heard and created this blog. Since this is my first post I think I will post a little about me. I work for a print on demand company in Memphis, TN as a software developer. I graduated from Mississippi State Univeristy with a B.S. Software Engineering. I am to be married to my highschool sweetheart Sept. 20 and hopefully after 5:00 today I will join the collective of home owners. So it seems like there is quite a bit going on in my life at the moment. Im not really sure where this blog will go but I guess we shall all see.
